Violent Media Is Good For Kids
According to Gerard Jones, violent media can actually have positive effects on young people because, “the dual-identity concept at the heart of many superhero stories helps kids negotiate the conflicts between the inner self and the public self as they work through the early stages of socialization.” (Jones 66) Jones also believes that violent media is a positive influence on children because it helps them to build self-confidence and tackle life obstacles. For instance when his son was afraid to climb a tree at school, Jones read his son Tarzan comics, his son conquered his fear and climbed the tree. Some people believe that children shouldn’t watch violent media because it could lead to them acting out.
